Tragic Shooting at Compton Park Claims Life of 12-Year-Old
A 12-year-old boy was fatally shot at Fig/Oleander Park in Compton on Friday afternoon, in a devastating act of violence that has shocked the local community. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that the boy was discovered with a gunshot wound to the stomach just before 4 p.m.
Victim Succumbs to Injuries After Emergency Response
Emergency crews arrived quickly and performed life-saving measures on the scene. Despite their efforts, the young victim was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, officials said.
17-Year-Old Suspect Identified and Arrested
Based on evidence collected at the scene, investigators identified a 17-year-old boy as the suspected shooter. An arrest warrant was issued, and the teen was taken into custody without incident around 10 a.m. Sunday in Los Angeles.
He has since been booked and transported to a juvenile detention facility. Officials have not released his name due to his age.
