Arrest Made in High-Profile Encino Double Murder

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of American Idol music supervisor Robin Kaye and her husband, Thomas Deluca, inside their luxury home in Encino, Los Angeles. The suspect, Raymond Boodarian of Reseda, allegedly broke into the residence and shot the couple as they returned home.

Victims Identified as Longtime Industry Figures

The entertainment industry was shocked by the deaths of Robin Kaye, a respected music supervisor with American Idol since 2009, and her husband Tom. The couple was found with multiple gunshot wounds in separate rooms of their home. “Robin was truly loved and respected by all who worked with her,” said a representative from American Idol. “She will remain in our hearts forever.”

Timeline of the Incident

The Los Angeles Police Department received two calls on Thursday, July 10, about a possible burglary involving a suspect seen jumping the home’s fence. However, due to no visible signs of break-in and high security, officers left the scene. Days later, on Monday, July 14, police were called again for a welfare check after family members couldn’t reach the couple.

Upon entering the home, officers discovered both victims deceased. Surveillance footage later revealed that the suspect had entered the home through an unlocked entry point on July 10 and remained inside until the victims returned, leading to a deadly confrontation.

How the Suspect Was Caught

LAPD detectives used home surveillance footage and forensic evidence to identify Boodarian. He was arrested without incident at his residence on Vanowen Street the following day. Authorities say the suspect acted alone, had no connection to the victims, and does not appear to be tied to any known burglary rings.

Though he has a prior criminal record, this was reportedly his first offense involving burglary. Investigators are still searching for the murder weapon.

Community Reacts with Shock and Sorrow

Neighbors and those familiar with the couple expressed heartbreak and disbelief. A pool cleaner who serviced the home weekly said the couple had previously experienced an attempted break-in. “They were very kind people,” he said.

One neighbor reported that her tenant called 911 the day of the crime after spotting someone jumping the fence. “It just shows you,” said another neighbor, “no matter how much security you have, if someone wants to get in, they will.”

Authorities continue to investigate whether this tragic event is connected to any past attempted burglaries at the residence. As the Encino community mourns the loss, many are calling for heightened awareness and home safety, even in neighborhoods considered secure.
