Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Sam’s Club Member’s Mark Super Greens Powder — 11 Infected Across 7 States

Federal health authorities have linked Member’s Mark Super Greens Powder Supplements, sold at Sam’s Club stores and online nationwide, to at least 11 confirmed Salmonella infections in seven U.S. states. The affected product has been removed from shelves due to potential contamination from moringa leaf powder, though it has not yet been officially recalled.

Contaminated Moringa Powder Identified as Source

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) traced the contamination to a single batch of organic moringa leaf powder imported from Vallon Farm Direct in Jodhpur, India. Samples collected by state health officials in Virginia and Michigan tested positive for Salmonella.

As the investigation continues, the CDC warns consumers to discard or return any Member’s Mark Super Greens Powder products they have at home. The agency also noted it may expand its list of moringa-based products to avoid as new information emerges.

Reported Cases and Symptoms

Between May and September 2025, 11 individuals in Florida, Kansas, Michigan, North Carolina, New York, South Carolina, and Virginia contracted Salmonella after consuming the supplement. Three patients required hospitalization.

Salmonella infection symptoms may include:

  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Diarrhea (sometimes bloody)
  • Abdominal pain and cramping
  • Fever and chills

In severe cases, the bacteria can lead to arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, and urinary tract complications, particularly among young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.

What Consumers Should Do

Consumers are urged to:

  • Check for Member’s Mark Super Greens Powder in their homes.
  • Dispose of the product or return it to any Sam’s Club store.
  • Wash hands and disinfect surfaces that may have come into contact with the powder to prevent cross-contamination.

About Moringa

Moringa oleifera, native to India and other regions, is valued for its high levels of protein, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals. It is commonly marketed as a superfood supplement in powder form, added to smoothies and drinks for nutritional support.

As health officials continue monitoring the outbreak, consumers are advised to stay updated through CDC and FDA safety alerts regarding moringa-based supplements and other potentially affected products.
