Doctor and Wife Found Shot Inside Their Simi Valley Home

On Sunday, November 30, officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire in the 500 block of Hawks Bill Place. When police arrived, they discovered 63-year-old Dr. Eric Cordes and his wife, 66-year-old Vicki Cordes, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside the open garage of their home.

Suspect Identified as Couple’s Son, 37-Year-Old Keith Cordes

Witnesses reported that the shooter—described as a white male in his 30s—fled the scene in a black sedan with out-of-state plates.

Detectives used FLOCK and LPR camera systems to track a vehicle of interest traveling south on the 210 Freeway. The car was registered to 37-year-old Keith Cordes, the son of Dr. Eric Cordes and stepson of Vicki Cordes.

Law enforcement agencies coordinated to locate the vehicle in Chino, where officers discovered it parked near Ayala Park. According to police, the suspect allegedly set the car on fire and fatally shot himself. The fire caused severe burns, initially delaying identification.

The San Bernardino County Medical Examiner later confirmed the deceased individual was Keith Cordes. Investigators believe the firearm found beside him was the same weapon used in the double homicide.
