Incident Details The attack occurred on August 8, 2023, at approximately 1:30 a.m. on the 400 block of East 103rd Street. According to investigators, Buchanan was inside his car when unidentified suspects approached from behind, doused him with an accelerant, and set both him and the vehicle ablaze. The suspects then fled the scene in a dark-colored four-door sedan. Buchanan was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities Urge Public Assistance Los Angeles Police Department Captain Scot Williams emphasized the importance of community support in solving this case. “We need the public’s help to bring a conclusion to this investigation. What happened to Mr. Buchanan is terrible,” Williams stated. “It clearly had an impact on his family and this community, and we need any information that can help bring the suspects to justice.” Family Pleads for Justice Buchanan’s family is also appealing for anyone with knowledge of the crime to step forward. “I’m still trying to process what happened to him,” said his sister, Trina Magee. “I want somebody to step up and help us out with who did this to my brother. It was a cowardly act, and justice needs to be served.” Reward for Information A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the identification, arrest, and prosecution of the suspects. The motive for the crime remains unknown.
