Man Attacked in Pasadena After Dispute Over Off-Leash Dogs on Arroyo Boulevard Trail

Pasadena, California – A weekend walk turned violent when a man was attacked on a popular Pasadena trail following an argument about his off-leash dogs. Police are now searching for the suspect involved.

Argument Over Dogs Turns Violent

William Woods was walking along Arroyo Boulevard in Pasadena with his two dogs, Woof and Kibble, when he encountered a man accompanied by two young girls. The individual confronted Woods, telling him it was illegal to have dogs off-leash.

Woods says he acknowledged the comment to avoid conflict, but the situation escalated.

“This guy starts yelling at me… then he charged me. He picked me up and threw me,” Woods recalled.

When Woods attempted to take photos of the man for evidence, he says he was attacked a second time. The force of the assault knocked his glasses nearly 40 feet away, leaving him injured and bloodied on his leg and arm.

Pasadena Police Investigation

The incident occurred Saturday and was immediately reported to police. Authorities confirmed that having dogs off-leash in Pasadena is against city law, but emphasized that the violation should never result in physical violence.

City spokesperson Lisa Derderian stated:

“While it is illegal to have dogs off-leash, this does not justify an assault. We encourage anyone with information to contact the Pasadena Police Department.”

Safety Concerns for Dog Owners

Woods admitted he understands the leash law and said he is willing to pay a fine if cited. However, he expressed concern for his and his wife’s safety after the attack, fearing the suspect might return.

Police are asking anyone with information about the suspect to come forward as the investigation remains ongoing.
